Building Community Over God's Word
Sunday Mornings at 9:15

At Village Church, our mission is to glorify God by making, growing and sending disciples of Jesus Christ. One way we we grow disciples is by spending time in God's Word with one another. Our goal with this class is to create an environment where all people at varying stages of their faith can come together, read their Bibles on their own throughout the week and then come together to discuss each week's text every Sunday morning. We want to raise up different faciliators/teachers throughout this class to equip our people for following and being on mission for Jesus.

Reading Through the New Testament
July 2023-March 2024

We are reading through the New Testament chronologically, which means reading the events of the Bible in the order that they happened in history, rather than the sequence they are presented in the Bible text. Reading the Bible in chronological order can equip us to understand its narrative more clearly, and see it from a fresh perspective.

What to Expect
Read on your own, Discuss as a Group every week

Each week contains five days of reading per week (no more than 1-2 chapters a day). You can read on your own time or own pace. The goal is to have read all five days of reading before you come to discussion each Sunday morning, but no matter if you read or not, you are always invited to come as you are and build community with other believers! At discussion, we will discuss a brief summary of the week's passages, ask/discuss some questions about context, things that caught your attention and what we can learn about Jesus and the heart of God throughout Scripture. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall in the room behind the kitchen on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:00. Childcare will be available at 9 a.m.

Tips for Success
Prayer, Journaling and Resources

As you approach each day's reading, it's great to start with prayer. As you read, we encourage you to have a pen and a journal in hand to write down things that catch your attention. (See resources below for Bible study tips). Bring your journal to class to aid in discussion and give you good recall of what you read and what you found convicting.

Before you read God’s Word each day, seek His help with these 5 prayers:
1. God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
2. God, let any knowledge I gain serve to help me love You and others more,
and not puff me up.
3. God, help me see something new about You I've never seen before.
4. God, correct any lies I believe about You or anything I misunderstand.
5. God, direct my steps according to Your Word.
