Jose was born and raised in deep south Texas near the Mexican border and Becky grew up in the north Texas area, close to Dallas. They both have a passion for God’s people and want to serve those in their community through the love of Christ in a practical manner. Jose is fluent in Spanish and prays that being a part of Village Church will open doors to the gospel in his first language. Jose works for Joni and Friends here in Knoxville, where he serves those affected by disabilities and their families. Through Joni and Friends’ Wheels for the World program, Jose had the opportunity to lead a team last March to Guatemala to help deliver wheelchairs to those in need.
Jose and Becky met while playing intramural soccer at Texas A&M in 2014. Their love for soccer and each other grew at school and they have been married for almost 4 years. Becky is a full-time veterinary student at the University of Tennessee and she is currently in her third year of vet school. They don’t have any kids yet, but hope to adopt their first child once Becky graduates in 2022.
Jose served as an elder from January 2021 until May 2022. Jose and Becky moved back to Texas where Becky started her job as a veterinarian and Jose enrolled at Dallas Theologial Seminary.
